a recurrent throbbing headache that typically affects one side of the head and is often accompanied by nausea and disturbed vision.”

What exactly is “disturbed vision”?

I have struggled with weekly migraines since I was 12 and I’m fascinated with the alterations my own vision makes during these disturbances. When I asked my family and friends about their migraines, I learned that everyone’s visuals are different. This project is my investigation of migraine aura variations.

My interest in sensory disturbances stems from my curiosity about the capacity of eyesight. What boundaries are placed on our eyesight? In the past, I created a series focused on what individuals perceive when they aren’t seeing anything at all, called closed eye visualizations (CEV). I theorize that perception is strongly connected to the human psyche and therefore visualizations are powerful and influential personal experiences. In the future, I want to continue to explore visual variations and the barriers placed on eyesight.
